TravelCenters of America Inc. (Nasdaq: TA) today announced that it has commenced a company-wide reorganization, which is a key step in the Company’s strategic, long-term plan to improve its operational efficiency and profitability.

The reorganization plan includes significant leadership changes with the addition of new Senior Vice Presidents for a newly created hospitality department, under which the areas of restaurants, gaming and convenience stores will be consolidated, as well as in information technology.

TA has also appointed a new Senior Vice President of corporate development, a new department initially tasked with delivering on the Company’s reorganizational initiatives. Key among these initiatives is the creation of a centralized procurement group to drive economies of scale in pricing, provide increased leverage in vendor negotiations, and ultimately lead to substantial purchasing savings and a streamlined operation. Other key initiatives are focused in areas of opportunity for realizing both costs savings and increased revenues, including merchandising in the convenience stores, over-the-road delivery, truck repair training and staffing and IT systems.

These new leaders bring decades of valuable experience as well as initiative, critical skills and new visions and approaches to these critical, but underperforming, areas of TA’s business. In addition, as part of its reorganization plan, TA is reducing its corporate headcount by a total of approximately 130 and eliminating certain positions. These changes are expected to generate net annual savings of approximately $13.1 million in selling, general and administrative, or SG&A, expense.

“Since joining TA in December, I, together with TA’s senior level management, and under the oversight and direction of TA’s Board of Directors, have been focused on developing a plan to cost-effectively optimize the strengths of our organization in order to transform the Company,” said Jon Pertchik, Chief Executive Officer of TA. “By reorganizing and enhancing our leadership team, we have taken the first formal steps in executing TA’s turnaround by repositioning management, redefining management roles and operating focus, and strategically adding new management who bring new and valuable experiences, skills and outlooks to TA, while also focusing on right-sizing historical SG&A growth, which has significantly outpaced revenue growth over the past decade. I am confident that the team that we now have in place is the one to take TA forward.”

“We have worked hard on planning and developing the reorganization and transition plan announced today. I believe that this plan will result in major changes in efficiencies and improvements to TA’s business and position it well for future success.” added Mr. Pertchik.

Senior Leaders Joining TA

Kevin Kelly – Senior Vice President, Hospitality (Retail, Restaurant, Gaming).

Mr. Kelly is joining TA from Delaware North, a global food service and hospitality company, where he held progressive leadership roles over the past 22 years. His most recent role was as President of Travel Hospitality, in which he led a subsidiary consisting of over 250 food service and retail locations in 19 airports and oversaw the construction of 120 locations.

Dennis King – Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.

An experienced commercial and strategy leader with a proven record of building high performing teams and executing transformative change, Mr. King was most recently an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company. Mr. King has over 15 years of experience leading transformations in retail and consumer companies, with a deep expertise in advanced analytics, strategic evaluation, and cost and revenue synergy realization.

Sandy Rapp – Chief Information Officer / Senior Vice President, Information Technology.

Ms. Rapp is an information systems and business executive with over 30 years of experience in software development, consumer products, IT consulting, financial and manufacturing industries. Most recently serving as Chief Information Officer at the Timken Company, Ms. Rapp has been recognized in her prior roles for solving large, complex enterprise-wide business challenges with innovative solutions and improving business productivity.

The one-time cost associated with executing the reorganization plan are expected to be approximately $4.2 million, which will be recognized as selling, general and administrative expense. The costs comprised primarily of severance, outplacement services, stock-based compensation expense associated with the accelerated vesting of previously granted stock awards for certain employees and fees for recruitment of certain executive positions. During the 2020 first quarter, TA recognized $0.4 million of executive recruitment fees and expects to recognize the remainder of the costs during the 2020 second quarter.

TravelCenters of America Inc. (Nasdaq: TA) today provided business updates related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, all TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express travel centers remain open, providing essential services to drivers across the nation with fuel, showers, restrooms, quick-serve restaurants and convenience stores. Employees continue to take precautionary measures consistent with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to minimize the spread of coronavirus, including social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols.

However, COVID-19 has caused many state and local governments to close or severely limit non-essential services, including full-service restaurants. In addition, broader stay-at-home orders and an overall decrease in consumer demand has significantly and adversely affected TA’s full-service restaurant business.

Primarily as a result of its full-service restaurant closures, TA has made the difficult decision to furlough approximately 2,900 field employees, as well as approximately 122 corporate employees. All furloughed employees currently enrolled in TA’s benefits programs will continue to be eligible for health care coverage based on their plan. Impacted employees are eligible to apply for enhanced unemployment benefits under the CARES Act.

“This decision was very difficult, but these are unprecedented times. We believe this step is necessary to preserve the long-term success of our company and to ensure our essential services remain available for the millions of professional drivers who rely on us daily,” said Jon Pertchik, CEO of TA.

TravelCenters of America’s (TA) diesel technician apprenticeship program is celebrating its one-year anniversary as a registered training program with the U.S. Department of Labor. The partnership allows TA’s program to meet the national standard of training for diesel mechanics.

The apprenticeship program gives entry-level technicians guided, hands-on experience, teaching them to safely and efficiently perform the maintenance and repairs needed to keep today’s technologically advanced heavy-duty vehicles on the road. The program allows participants to work full time at a TA Truck Service facility while completing their training, as another option to a vocational school or training program.

Ten technicians have completed the nationally-recognized apprenticeship program and have received recognition by the U.S. Department of Labor as Journeyman Diesel Technicians:

  • Maria Cruz – TA in Baytown, Texas
  • Thomas Russell – TA in Hillsboro, Texas
  • Keith Bell – TA in Oak Grove, Missouri
  • Kena Bashale – TA in Boise, Idaho
  • Quentin Talamante – TA in Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Benjamin Liden – TA in Hillsboro, Texas
  • Jason Gray – TA in Boise, Idaho
  • Robert Burnett – TA in Mt. Vernon, Illinois
  • Jorge Amaya – TA in Baytown, Texas
  • Enrique Garnica – TA in Tonopah, Arizona

Each technician is currently employed at a TA Truck Service center. To finish the program, they had to complete 6,000 hours of training and on-the-job experience.

“The apprenticeship program provides a tangible starting point for men and women seeking a new career, members of the military looking for a second career or for current technicians wishing to advance their skills,” said Skip McGary, TA Executive Vice President. “The high level of hands-on training associated with the program equips participants with the mechanical and computer skills needed to work on today’s vehicles, all while they work in a full-time position.”

The program was developed in partnership with FASTPORT, Inc., the DOL Industry Intermediary for the Transportation and Logistics sector. To learn more about joining the TravelCenters of America diesel technician apprenticeship program, contact Chad Estle, Lead Recruiter at CEstle@ta-petro.com

TravelCenters of America Dominates Driver Satisfaction Survey for 13th Year in a Row http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/travelcenters-of-america-dominates-driver-satisfaction-survey-for-13th-year-in-a-row/ http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/travelcenters-of-america-dominates-driver-satisfaction-survey-for-13th-year-in-a-row/TravelCenters of America Inc. has again dominated the annual “Voted Best” survey, created to gather professional driver feedback on truck stop services and amenities. The 13th annual poll examines services provided at the TA and Petro branded locations with those of its competition; it is conducted by an independent agency and was commissioned by TA in September.

“We exist to serve the professional driver and this survey is one of the best opportunities we have to learn how we’re doing, directly from our customers,” said Barry Richards, president and chief operating officer of TA. “We’re happy to know that we continue to be the industry leader in numerous services and amenities, and will continue working hard to ensure professional drivers have the best experience possible when they’re on the road and away from home.”

The poll again confirmed that drivers have the best overall customer experience at TA and Petro locations. In addition to the largest and easiest to maneuver parking lots, quickest fueling times, shortest shower wait times and best restaurant food, the staff at TA and Petro locations is the most respectful and friendly, according to the survey. Best fitness and laundry facilities, comforts including driver lounges and movie rooms, and best travel store merchandise selection also topped the list.

TA Truck Service proved again to be the preferred truck maintenance service among professional drivers and received the highest marks from drivers for best roadside assistance, most competent technicians and the best technologies, tire assortments and warranties.

TA prides itself on raising money for the trucking community, and was recognized in the poll as the best in giving back to the industry. In 2019, TA raised approximately $275,000 for St. Christopher Trucker’s Relief Fund, a non-profit organization that helps truck drivers suffering financial hardship as a result of being out of work due to illness or injury.

The new restaurant in Greenwood has dining room seating for 60 guests and features design elements that connect to the brand’s heritage and its founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, including:

  • Photos of Colonel Sanders, the “original celebrity chef,” showcasing his travels around the world and encounters with other celebrities.

  • A signature bucket chandelier, which is the centerpiece of the restaurant’s dining area.

Signage on the restaurant hails from Kentucky and has ties to Colonel Sanders. It was crafted by Ruggles Sign Company of Versailles, which was founded by the husband of one of Colonel Sanders’ daughters.

TA Truck Service Technicians Continue Winning Tradition at TMC SuperTech Competition http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/ta-truck-service-technicians-continue-winning-tradition-at-tmc-supertech-competition/ http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/ta-truck-service-technicians-continue-winning-tradition-at-tmc-supertech-competition/TravelCenters of America Inc. is pleased to announce its team of ASE Master Technicians competing at the TMC SuperTech Competition won seven stations, came in third overall in the Trailer category and fourth overall in the Heavy Duty Tractor category. The event was held Sept. 16-17 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

TMC SuperTech is an elite competition bringing together the best truck service and repair technicians from across the U.S. The two-day competition consists of written tests and hands-on skill stations. This year, the entire TA Truck Service team was part of the 87 out of the 132 competitors to advance from the preliminary written test to the hands-on skill station portion of the event. These skill stations present technical challenges, unique to different components of a heavy duty vehicle. Competitors must solve the challenges within a time limit. They earn points for their progress, which determines skills station winners and overall top scorers.

The TMC SuperTech winners were announced on Sept. 17 at the conclusion of the competition. Congratulations to the following TA Truck Service winners:

Michael Gavrielides, TA Madison, Georgia

  • Brakes station champion, Heavy Duty Truck Track
  • Liftgate station champion, Heavy Duty Truck Track
  • Fourth overall, Heavy Duty Truck Track

Scott Davidson, TA Madison, Wisconsin

  • Wheel End station champion, Trailer Track
  • Liftgate station champion, Trailer Track
  • Third overall, Trailer Track

Michael Kerfoot (JR), Petro San Antonio, Texas

  • Written Test station champion, Trailer Track
  • Precision Measuring station champion, Trailer Track
  • Electric Corrosion station champion, Trailer Track

As TMC SuperTech celebrates 15 years of competition, TA Truck Service celebrates 15 years of participation in the event. In addition to a long standing tradition of excellence at TMC SuperTech, TA Truck Service technicians also compete at the state level throughout the year. This year, more than 50 technicians from over 30 TA Truck Service facilities competed in 11 state competitions, with seven technicians winning first overall in their state and seven finishing second or third in their state. Altogether, TA Truck Service competitors won 36 skills stations at state competitions this year.

"This was an outstanding year for our technicians competing at the state level and TMC SuperTech. I am proud of all of their accomplishments," said Skip McGary, executive vice president of TravelCenters of America. "The consistent participation and success of TA Truck Service technicians at these events is a testament to the hard work and dedication that they demonstrate each day in our repair shops, helping professional drivers get back on the road, quickly and safely.”

TA Truck Service is committed to hiring dedicated technicians and providing them with comprehensive training to provide the highest quality truck maintenance and repair on the highway. On average, 1,600 technicians, managers and repair shop staff receive training at one of two TA Truck Service training facilities located in Lodi, Ohio and Eloy, Arizona each year.

Funding from industry leaders solidifies QuikQ’s place as an independent, fast-growing payment solutions provider amid trucking industry’s fuel payments marketplace.

FRANKLIN, Tennessee—(July 9, 2019) – QuikQ, LLC (QuikQ), an independent full-service fuel payment solutions provider founded in 2008, announced today strategic investments by truck stop and truck maintenance industry leaders Love's Travel Stops (Love's) and TravelCenters of America LLC (Nasdaq: TA) (TA).

With the financial backing of Love’s and TA, QuikQ is strategically poised for continued growth and expansion in the fuel payments marketplace, where the Tennessee-based company has a nationwide network of more than 3,400 chain and independent merchant locations to serve its customers. The network is further solidified through long-term agreements QuikQ has with all of the country’s largest truck stop operators.

QuikQ will continue to operate as an independent company, focused on saving customers time and money. Investments by Love’s and TA enable QuikQ to grow its streamlined approach to building more direct, transparent relationships between merchants and carriers and their payment solutions provider.

“QuikQ offers high-quality products designed to compete in the fuel payments industry. With Love’s and TA as investors, QuikQ brings immediate competition in the fuel payments marketplace while minimizing costs for our merchant and trucking company customers,” said QuikQ Chief Executive Officer Dean Troester, a 36-year trucking industry veteran who joined the QuikQ team in that capacity in early 2017.

In addition to QuikQ’s own fuel payment card, the company’s technology also supports other universally-accepted co-branded and private label cards, including cards for Love’s and TA. The long-term success and growth of these platforms provides QuikQ proven experience to better serve the trucking industry.

“QuikQ has been the successful, cost-effective backbone of our Love's Express payment platform for many years. A large segment of our customers have benefited from the convenience and savings QuikQ’s technology provides, and QuikQ can deliver the same advantages across the trucking industry,” said Frank Love, co-CEO of Love’s and Speedco. “QuikQ offers trucking companies another choice.”

“With the financial support of two of the truck stop industry’s largest players and nationwide merchant acceptance of its products, QuikQ is positioned to add competition to the fuel payment industry, improve customer service, and reduce fees to merchants and fleets,” added Andy Rebholz, CEO of TA. “Competition is needed, and QuikQ is positioned to positively impact merchants and trucking companies alike.”

QuikQ offers a full suite of payment products, including a fuel payment card; SmartQ, an RFID based card-less system; and Start Code, a card-less payment solution. QuikQ’s fuel payment solutions increase accountability, efficiency and convenience for professional truck drivers.

For fleets and drivers, QuikQ offers Q-Checks, cash advances, payroll cards, a mobile app and more, all designed to better manage transportation-related fuel payment costs. QuikQ’s technology is integrated with the major transportation management systems. For merchants and other parties, QuikQ also offers its RFID hardware and technology, along with private label and co-branded cards.

About St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund The St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF) is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization that provides assistance to over-the-road semi-truck drivers and their families when an illness or injury has caused the driver to be out of work and suffer financial hardship. Assistance may be in the form of direct payment for mortgage/rent, utilities, vehicle payments and insurance. The SCF also provides programs to benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry. For more information, please visit www.truckersfund.org or call (865) 202-9428.

WESTLAKE, Ohio – July 3, 2019 – TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters) (Nasdaq: TA), operator of the TA®, Petro Stopping Centers® and TA Express® brands, has launched its tenth annual campaign in support of the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF), a non-profit organization that helps truck drivers suffering financial hardship as a result of being out of work due to illness or injury. The month-long campaign will run at participating TA, Petro and TA Express travel centers through July 31.

Throughout the month, guests and employees of TA, Petro and TA Express will be invited to make a donation of $1 or more. Commemorative wristbands will be given to those making a $1 donation, while $5 donors will receive celebratory die-cast metal keychains. One hundred percent of donations go directly to the SCF to provide financial assistance to over-the-road and regional professional truck drivers, who are unable to work due to medical issues. The SCF assists with mortgage/rent, utilities, vehicle payments and insurance bills while drivers are out of work.

“Drivers who suffer from an illness or injury are coping with treatments and trying to recover,” said Barry Richards, President and COO of TravelCenters. “The stress of a financial burden can get in the way of that recovery. The St. Christopher Fund provides medical and financial guidance and assistance so drivers can fully focus on their health and wellness. It’s an honor to be in our tenth year of supporting the ‘Band Together’ campaign,” he added.

TravelCenters began its support of the SCF in 2010. The ‘Band Together for SCF’ annual campaign marks the largest single contribution the Fund receives each year. TravelCenters purchases and donates all of the wristbands and keychains so that 100 percent of donations can be contributed to the SCF.

“We are forever grateful for the support we have received from TravelCenters for the last ten years,” said Dr. Donna Kennedy, Executive Director of the SCF.

“Truck drivers look forward to the ‘Band Together’ campaign every year so they can make their donation to help their fellow drivers. There are also many drivers who have received our assistance — now back on the road and back on their feet — who make donations to pay it forward,” she added. “In the last ten years, the SCF has become a common name in the trucking industry, and we thank TravelCenters for their part in helping us achieve that.”

As of June 2019, the SCF has helped more than 2,700 truck drivers and their families with monthly bills totaling more than $2.7 million. Professional drivers who are suffering from financial hardships due to medical problems can apply to the SCF for assistance at www.truckersfund.org.

RFID is a fast and secure purchase system adding time efficiency into the fueling process. The new Universal and Select cards also allow customers to pay for fuel, truck maintenance and other services on one easy to manage account. In addition, customers will have access to real-time reporting that enhances efficiency, is customizable and improves account security. The UltraONE Universal card can be used at all TA, Petro and TA Express locations as well as any fueling location that accepts QuikQ payment products, thereby extending potential fueling locations to over 3,400 merchant locations nationwide. The UltraONE Select card is accepted exclusively at TA, Petro and TA Express branded locations.

“We are thrilled to offer the UltraONE Universal and UltraONE Select fleet payment card options to our existing and prospective customers,” said Barry Richards, President and Chief Operating Officer. “Historically, fleet payment options have been few. Providing these cards as competitive alternatives enables our customers to increase their efficiency while enhancing controls and reporting capabilities directly with their fueling and truck maintenance providers. It’s a win-win for all concerned.”

TA expects to enhance both the Universal and Select card offers with additional products and services in the foreseeable future.

The new intuitive design helps users easily find what they are looking for and allows them to move effortlessly through the app, quickly getting to the features they need. TravelCenters of America, LLC (“TravelCenters”) (Nasdaq: TA) has registered its longstanding diesel technician apprenticeship program with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The program was developed in partnership with FASTPORT, Inc., the DOL Industry Intermediary for the Transportation and Logistics sector.

The apprenticeship program gives technicians at any skill level guided, hands-on experience, teaching them to safely and efficiently perform the maintenance and repairs needed to keep today’s technologically advanced heavy-duty vehicles on the road. The program allows participants to work full time at a TA Truck Service facility while completing their training, instead of paying to attend a vocational school or training program.

The majority of the training is facilitated by a mentor technician while on the job. Participants also have access to live support from an around-the-clock technical support team, made up of ASE Master Technicians based at TravelCenters of America headquarters. Advanced technical training takes place

at one of two TravelCenters-operated training facilities, each outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, tools and a full service bay with a pit. More than 1,500 technicians per year attend classes at these facilities covering topics like electrical systems, HVAC and braking systems. Classes are taught by a team of ASE Master Certified technicians and Daimler certified trainers.

Participation in the apprenticeship program can span from 12 to 36 months, depending on the skill level of the technician being enrolled. At the successful completion of the training, the technician receives recognition by the U.S Department of Labor as a Journeyman Diesel Technician.

To learn more about joining the TravelCenters of America diesel technician apprenticeship program, contact Chad Estle, Lead Recruiter at CEstle@ta-petro.com.

TravelCenters of America Launches First TA Express Units http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/travelcenters-of-america-launches-first-ta-express-units/ http://www.6daijia.icu/newsroom/travelcenters-of-america-launches-first-ta-express-units/Smaller Format Travel Centers to Complement Full Service NetworkTravelCenters of America LLC (Nasdaq: TA), operator of TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® full service travel center brands, has announced the opening of the first four travel centers under its new TA Express brand at the following locations:

  • US Hwy. 85 and SR 68 in Alexander, North Dakota;
  • 455 US 85 in Walsenburg, Colorado;
  • 1041 North Colorado Avenue in Brush, Colorado;
  • 2222 US Hwy 6 in Grand Junction, CO.

TA Express travel centers will offer a majority of the fuel, merchandise, food and other services that professional drivers familiar with the TA and Petro brands have come to know and prefer. For professional drivers, TA Express offers smaller, more nimble facilities allowing drivers to fuel faster, fulfill basic travel needs and return to the road. Professional drivers are able to earn and redeem UltraONE loyalty points at TA Express sites. For motorists, TA Express will provide branded gasoline options, national food offerings, convenience items and clean restrooms.

TravelCenters will soon develop the TA Express network across the nation’s interstates and other heavily traveled highways. Franchising TA Express units will be one avenue of growth.

"TA has served the needs of professional drivers and motorists for nearly 50 years”, said Barry Richards, President and Chief Operating Officer of TravelCenters. “We’ve listened to our customers and have adapted our facilities to meet their needs, including their need to have our locations in some areas where you just cannot put a large format TA or Petro travel center. New distribution centers country-wide have changed freight patterns and call for additional fueling locations not restricted to interstates and 25 acre parcels.”

The newly branded locations consist of two new additions to the TravelCenters fueling network in Brush and Walsenberg, CO, a TA operated site known as The Wild Bison in Alexander, ND and the conversion of a TA in Grand Junction, CO.

TravelCenters of America LLC (“TravelCenters”) (Nasdaq: TA), announced today the official grand opening of the TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center. Mr. Richard Edwards, Mayor of Bowling Green, and Mr. Barry Richards, President and Chief Operating Officer of TravelCenters along with TA Executive Vice President, Skip McGary presided over the ribbon cutting to officially open the facility located at 522 East Woodland Circle, Bowling Green, Ohio. Members of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, industry and local media and TravelCenters leadership participated in the festivities.

Attendees had an opportunity to tour the facility, observe tire retread production and see the capabilities of the OnSITE mobile maintenance truck and the RoadSquad emergency breakdown and repair truck.

The TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center, which is now open and producing retread tires, is part of the Goodyear Authorized Retread Network. Customer-owned casings can be retreaded with premium performance Goodyear treads, a solution that lowers fleets’ cost-per-mile by lengthening the life of the tires.

“We have a winning combination – a newly renovated facility in a great community, state-of-the-art retread equipment and an operations team with over 150 combined years of expertise in the retread business,” said Barry Richards, President and Chief Operating Officer of TravelCenters. “Now we have the ability to provide a complete tire management system and retread tires for national and local fleets, local industries, regional construction and the agricultural segments.”

The TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center is a 32,000-square foot retread center that will provide a full line of Goodyear commercial tire retread products – including Goodyear UniCircle retreads – to fleets, local industries and tire dealers within a 150-mile radius of Bowling Green, Ohio. Local customers will be able to purchase Goodyear retread tires, as well as shop a full line of new Goodyear brand tires in the remodeled showroom. Tire inspection and repair services, as well as roadside service, will also be available through the retread center. In addition, numerous TA Truck Service facilities will have access to Goodyear brand retread tires produced at this plant.

TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, is renewing its efforts to grow and expand the TA franchise network.

“We have a strong history with our franchise operations,” said Barry Richards, President and COO of TravelCenters of America. “Franchisees tell us they’ve been more successful in branding with us. We hope to continue to garner more relationships like these to help expand our company legacy far into the future.”

While traditional TA and Petro Stopping Center brands are primed for franchise growth, a new brand, TA Express, will be launched later this summer. TA Express was developed as a smaller, more nimble concept to serve travelers, professional drivers and local motorists with top-quality diesel fuel, branded gas options, food offerings and convenience items. TA Express will also give prospective franchisees another model from which to choose.

“While our traditional travel centers offer a wide variety of options for all travelers, we heard from our motorists and professional drivers that they also wanted locations where they could experience TravelCenters quality in a quick-serve setting. That’s what we’re offering with TA Express,” said Richards. “TA Express gives our guests another convenient way to refuel, replenish and refresh so that they can quickly and easily continue their family trip or deliver their freight load.”

TA Express sites will increase the number of fueling options for professional drivers and will accept the same fuel programs and payment methods as traditional TA and Petro locations. In addition, professional drivers in TravelCenters’ UltraONE Program will be able to earn and redeem points at TA Express locations.

Franchise expansion efforts are ongoing and TA Express locations will be announced soon.

TravelCenters of America LLC (“TravelCenters”) (Nasdaq: TA) announced the purchase of its first commercial tire retread plant, located in Bowling Green, Ohio. The 32,000-square-foot retread center will be part of the Goodyear Authorized Retread Network, providing a full line of Goodyear commercial tire retread products including Goodyear UniCircle retreads to fleets, local industries and tire dealers within a 150-mile radius of Bowling Green, Ohio. In addition, numerous TA Truck Service facilities will have access to Goodyear brand retread tires produced at this plant.

“Adding a retread center to the TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network portfolio reconfirms our commitment to expanding the array of tires we offer to our customers,” said Skip McGary, Executive Vice President Commercial Operations of TravelCenters. “Not only will we be producing a quality Goodyear retread product, but we will also be able to provide a complete cradle-to-grave tire management program.”

Since the launch of the Commercial Tire Network at the end of 2016, TA Truck Service has provided customers with a combination of a wide product choice, flexible delivery/install capability and competitive pricing. Through this new TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center, customer-owned casings can now be retreaded with quality Goodyear treads, a solution that helps to lengthen the life of the tires, minimizes downtime and lowers fleets’ cost-per-mile.

Along with the purchase of the facility, TravelCenters has invested $2.9 million in retread equipment, including a Shearography inspection system. This laser technology is part of the intense, two-step casing inspection process, which helps increase the quality and performance of the retreaded tire.

Local customers will be able to purchase Goodyear retreaded tires, as well as shop for a full line of new Goodyear brand tires from the newly remodeled showroom. Tire inspection and repair services, as well as road service, will also be available through the retread center. TravelCenters of America LLC (“TravelCenters”) (Nasdaq: TA) has launched TA Truck Service Certified Used Truck and Certified Used Trailer inspections that provide information to the used truck community on the condition of used trucks and trailers available for resale. Complementing the inspection process, TA Truck Service developed a Certified Used Truck and Certified Used Trailer emblem that is displayed only on trucks or trailers that have passed both a DOT inspection and a series of additional tests on key operational components. The Certified Used Truck and Certified Used Trailer inspection results and the emblem provide both the reseller and the customer with an overall view of the health of the vehicle at the time the inspection was completed.

“The maintenance history for a used truck or trailer is typically not available to a prospective buyer,” said Skip McGary, Executive Vice President Commercial Operations of TravelCenters. “The reseller may have no knowledge of the condition or health of the vehicle. We provide peace of mind to both the reseller and the buyer that an ASE Certified technician has inspected the vehicle. Plus, our technicians have the expertise to perform any repairs necessary to earn and display the Certified Used Truck or Trailer emblem.”

TravelCenters of America LLC (“TravelCenters”) (NASDAQ: TA) announced today a new radio segment called Kickin’ the Tires, which will debut on the Dave Nemo Show on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.

Robert Armstrong, Regional Sales Manager for the TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network, will co-host the program, which airs at 7:00 a.m. CST on the second Thursday of every month on the Dave Nemo Show on SiriusXM Channel 146, Road Dog Trucking.

During the show, Armstrong will draw on his 11 years of experience in the commercial truck industry to provide information and tips, as well as field callers’ questions about the second largest vehicle expense – tires. Drivers can listen in to hear more about tire industry trends and news, recommendations for maintaining tires, advice for choosing the best set for a specific rig and more.

Kickin’ the Tires expands on the expertise offered during Maintenance Matters with Homer Hogg, which airs on the first and third Thursday of every month, also at 7:00 a.m. CST on the Dave Nemo Show.

“Maintenance Matters with Homer Hogg continues to provide excellent information regarding truck and trailer maintenance” said Barry Richards, TravelCenters President and Chief Operating Officer. “Kickin’ the Tires, however, will serve as an in-depth resource dedicated to discussing the second largest expense of both independent owner/operators and fleets and how to minimize those costs.”

“We kicked off Maintenance Matters with Homer back in 2006 and it continues to be tops with our listeners. If any component of a commercial motor vehicle deserves a “spin off” (pun intended), it’s tires,” said Dave Nemo. “Not much is more important for safety than tires. Proper care and maintenance is truly critical. Getting good, solid information to our listeners is also critical and we feel we have one of the best joining us in Robert Armstrong. Leave it to TA Truck Service to bring the best to our audience of professional drivers across North America.”

Callers looking for tire advice are not limited to Kickin’ the Tires air times. The TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network also offers a customer service line that connects drivers to a tire expert able to answer any tire related questions and to find the best tire application for their vehicles, whether they’re long haul, local, mountain, plains or other vehicles used in the commercial segment. These tire experts can be reached at 800-311-1092 from 7:00 a.m.to 11:00 p.m. EST seven days a week.

TA and Petro Stopping Centers are consistently Voted Best in annual independent driver surveys* with TA Truck Service Voted Best Overall Maintenance Shops, Most Competent Technicians, Best PM and Lubrication Services, Best Roadside Assistance and sweeping all 13 maintenance and repair service categories in 2017.

*Results based on TA and Petro independent surveys of Overdrive magazine readers.
